A lot of people have the notion that there is nothing left in the past for them to visit. They only have to deal with now and the future. But there is business in the past, and there is something you can do with it.
Visit the past to appreciate your progress. Oh yeah. You have come a long way. Appreciate how far you have come. Appreciate the journey. Appreciate the people you met – the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Visit the past to learn from the mistakes of the past. As the saying goes, only a fool will do things the same way and expect different results. Reflect on the past so you can avoid the tears tomorrow.
One important thing, though, is that you are not defined by the past. Don’t let anyone judge you by them.
By import, Jesus told the woman in John 8 that what you do going forward is what matters. “Go and sin no more”.
A new chapter is still possible in this new year. Pray that the Lord will help you.
